Metro Station - Copenhagen Airport

The 2007 metro link to Copenhagen Airport has reduced travelling time between the airport and the city centre to less than 15 minutes. The station is the terminus of the M2 metro line and extends Terminal 3. It is a traffic hub for the airport and provides easy access to the airport hotels, the multi-storey car park and the busses serving the airport.

The Copenhagen Airport metro station extends Terminal 3 as one of the three main arrival and departure points. The materials display the same high quality as Terminal 3’s, with an anthracite steel structure and granite tiles on the platforms. The station also extends the longitudinal axis of Terminal 3, with skylights placed along the axis.

Although the skylight design differs from Terminal 3’s, it is still used as a natural nudging instrument to guide travellers. The load-bearing constructions have been moved to the outer lines that support the rails for the metro, making it possible to avoid pillars in the station area and optimise the flow.

Along the main bearings that extend the longitudinal direction of the station are skylights providing excellent daylight. Lighting installed in overhead niches provides optimum light conditions at night.
