On Monday 15 January 2018, Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects attended the topping-out ceremony at Finger E in Copenhagen Airport. The topping-out ceremony is a celebration both of the first phase, which will be completed in 2019, and of the second phase, which will be completed in 2020.
The 36,000m2 extension will help tackle the increase in the number of passengers, which has made the airport the largest in the Nordic region.
With an associated support building and its three floors, Finger E is built onto Finger D as a direct architectural extension of Copenhagen Airport. The new Finger E contains 13 gates, one of which will accommodate the largest passenger plane in the world: the Airbus A380.
