The hotel project was realised with Københavns Lufthavne A/S as the developer and Hilton International as the entrepreneur.
The hotel has approximately 380 rooms with an adjoining conference centre, gym, ballroom, and restaurants.
In addition to the hotel building itself, the project contains an underground car park with 316 parking spaces. There is a direct connection by lift from the parking floors to the lobby floor, the surrounding areas, and the connecting building to Terminal 3 and the Metro station.
The work included all necessary work related to project design, authorities processing, and execution. The main architectural concept was to design the 45-metre-high hotel building in a strong geometric shape: a monolith that would provide a contrast to the Station terminal’s more horizontal, organic appearance.
The hotel is the airport’s landmark. It is the only tall building in the area and visible from large parts of the region. The hotel can be seen both from the motorway and from the Øresund Bridge.
Through the glass corridor between the hotel and Terminal 3, it takes two minutes to walk between the hotel and the airport, facilitating an architecturally defensible connection to the tip of Terminal 3.
In 2013, Hilton Copenhagen Airport Hotel was voted ‘Best Hotel in Copenhagen’ at the Danish Travel Awards. That is the 11th time, since it opened in 2001, that the hotel has won a prize at the Danish Travel Awards.
Other honours, which the hotel has received include: ‘Best Hotel in Copenhagen’ voted by the American magazine, Global Finance (in both 2005 and 2006); and ‘Best New Business Hotel in the World 2001’ voted by the magazine, Business Traveller.
