Experienced business executive, Karin Verland, has joined Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects as new chairman of the board. As former General Manager of Pfizer Denmark and anti-torture advocate she will chair one of the biggest architectural firms in Denmark.

A versatile and experienced profile has succeeded as new chairman of the board at Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects. The new chair is 60-year-old Karin Verland (M.D.) with experience from several boards and executive positions, including General Manager of Pfizer Denmark, Chairman of the Board of The Danish Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry, CEO of NGO Dignity and current CEO of Asiros.

“It was an opportunity impossible to turn down. Vilhelm Lauritzen is an institution in Danish architecture driven by dedicated partners with ambitions that reach far beyond profit. A great foundation for creating something visionary. I am excited to combine this dedication with my business development competences,” says Karin Verland, new chairman of board at Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and CEO of Asiros.

The election of Karin Verland is both a personal and a strategic choice for the firm with a continuous focus on digitization, quality insurance and sustainability.

“Karin holds significant business and executive experience as well as high credibility and integrity standards. In many ways, she personifies our values of curiosity and decency and on a professional level she brings commercial pharma-experience – an industry that operates under strict quality demands,” says Gyrithe Saltop, CEO at Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects.

More efficient and sustainable processes
Architecture plays a vital role in solving climate changes with the construction industry responsible for up to 40 percent of global carbon dioxide emissions.

“We are fast approaching our 100-year-anniversary. During the past century we have managed to steer through a World War, an oil crisis and two financial crises and now we are in the middle of a climate crisis. As it is our ambition to celebrate 200 years, we must adapt to a future through digitized processes much more efficient and sustainable than the current ones. We believe, Karin is the right person for that job,” says Gyrithe Saltorp, CEO at Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects.

Karin Verland succeed Torben Svanberg, who has been chairman the board for 15 years.
