Since 2008, Vilhelm Lauritzen Achitects has been a UN Global Compact member and worked actively with the ten sustainability priciples of the United Nations.
We have some of Denmark’s strongest and well-documented results within sustainable architecture. Our strategy emphasizes how knowledge, experience and responsibility are crucial to ensuring the succes of complex project processes.
We are cautious about claiming that all our projects are in line with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. We believe it is our responsibility to base our projects on a sustainable and constructive foundation – from the drawing board to inauguration. That, however, requires a constant flow of new knowledge.
Our staff include DGNB, LEED and BREEAM-consultants and certified sustainability consultants. In addition, our competencies cover light designers, daylight calculations experts, work environment coordinators, accessibility auditors, etc.
Our 2020-sustainability initiatives include a number of positions on functionality, inclusion and documentation:
- It is more sustainable to create flexible and adaptible buildings that last for generations, than continously building new ones.
- In our projects, we work for equality and dignity without uniformity. Good architecture is for everyone and must be found in all our projects.
- Materials that are termed sustainable must be followed by valid documentation. If this is not the case, we reject the materials or provide sufficient documentation.
