SPORTS CAMPUS, NÆSTVED
The town is shaped like two serpents moving through the landscape, subservient to the existing topography. Along the way they create open spaces of varying sizes providing green areas for living.
The spine to the north forming the transition to the existing industrial estate is mostly dedicated to commercial properties and sports facilities. The large “parking carpet” under the trees is available to users from the commercial buildings in the spine and also serves as extra parking on connection with large-scale sports and arts events centred on the arena and the new stadium.
The rambla is a wide pedestrian precinct stretching from the ring road to the central town square. From the rambla visitors are introduced to the new quarter. The town square is the point around which the new quarter revolves; there you feel the heartbeat of the town with its plethora of cafes, restaurants, the train station, and the sports facilities. From the square there is also easy access to the residential areas and all the primary cultural and sports facilities.
The new town plan allows for a wide range of housing varying from lively apartment blocks to dense row house estates with small, intimate gardens and shared outdoor areas.
