HANZA CITY, RIGA
VLA was awarded second prize in the international competition for a new finance centre in City Flowers, Riga.
The overall concept behind the project is that the financial centre should interact with the green zone that is part of the city plan. In order to utilize the green zone as much as possible, the project suggests an expansion of the original site in order to create a city park that is in direct contact with the zone.
The finacial centre is characterised by three towers, the bank building being the most dominant with a tower reaching 72 metres.
Sustainability
The atrium configuration of the buildings provides the possibility to implement several sustainable elements into the complex. Together with the double glass facades, the large volumes of the atriums can work together to provide natural ventilation for much of the year. Solar cells can be integrated into the glass facades and there is also the potential to collect rainwater. |
