BALLERUP TOWN HALL
The rebuilding of Ballerup Town Hall starts out from the principle of the town hall as a child of its time. First built in the 1970s it is imbued with building logistics that are old and highly traditional. The building features narrow offices and long corridors circling an atrium. To create a building capable of containing a modern office environment in the best possible way this proposal sets out by defining the atrium or residents square as a precise area spanning the two wings of the town hall.
The town hall is laid out so that it is easy to take in: there is easy access from the residents square to the surrounding counters with pertaining waiting areas. The way rooms are laid out will also be easy for staff to take in and will provide a modern workplace where assignments can be carried out in varied teams across job functions.
Walls are white, interrupted by a few glazed areas. Ceilings are white with inbuilt downlights. In some locations the floors are broken up by the through intelligent wall, where seating areas and zones are created in the same shades as the wall.
