FÆRDER SCHOOL
This design is based on the vision of creating an attractive, varied pedagogical centre that would be an outstanding example in terms of innovation, economy and its timeless architectural idiom.
For our competition entry we focused primarily on five factors:
- The creation of a building that would express contemporary society but which would also adapt and respect urban nature of the location in the present and in the future
- The design of a building that would manifest itself as a dynamic, flexible, innovative school for its students, teachers and other employees
- The creation of a friendly, welcoming school for its users and for the rest of the residents of Tønsberg
- The establishment of an “adventurous” building on simple design principles and using carefully-chosen materials that would contribute to a diverse, lively town
- The creation of an icon for the region: an exciting educational and cultural centre
The VLA/HRTB proposal achieved third place out of eight completion entries
