STENHUS UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOL, HOLBÆK

VLA won first prize in a turnkey contract competition – together with B. Nygaard Sørensen A/S as the main contractor and Dominia AS as consulting engineers – regarding the expansion and modernisation of Stenhus Gymnasium in Holbæk, Denmark.
The expansion project comprises six new classrooms and the establishment of a knowledge centre, flexible open-space facilities, student workstations, etc. The conversion project also includes the total renovation and re-conceptualisation of existing areas, as well as new up-to-date facades.
The upper secondary school will be fitted out with brand-new sports facilities for team handball, badminton, basketball and physical education.
The sports facilities are to be furnished with skylights and sidelights ensuring bright, inviting indoor sports areas.
To achieve the greatest possible flexibility, folding walls enable the gym to be divided or joined as required.
