NOISE SCREEN 2, COPENHAGEN AIRPORT
A simple column/beam system was chosen as the primary structure in order to facilitate an uncomplicated and easy execution. This structure will be the basis for the noise screen’s architectural expression without itself functioning as the primary expression. With a length of 300 m it is important to create an architectural expression which is emphasized and strengthened by the length. The screen should appear as a whole, single element in its full length.
In phase one the architecture of the screen’s façade is maintained and repeated in a smaller screen positioned opposite. Together the screens create space and a floor for the new walking connection.
The new screen also creates interfaces to stair and elevator connections to Terminal 1. The two screens give the new building as a whole an understandable expression with opportunities to take advantage of optimal daylighting as well as the best views.
