VLA has won an invited, international architectural competition for the master-plan concept for a ’Nordic Knowledge City’ in Chengdu (population 14.2 million) capital of Sichuan Province in China, and center of China’s rapidly emerging Western interior.

The site for the project has an area of just over 1 million m2 - approximately the same size as downtown Copenhagen – and the final built area will comprise 2.300.000 m2, including some 20,000 apartments for middle income families.
