Design Line
To meet current and future demands for exhibitions, new building parts has been added which ensures the best conditions for exhibitions, improves access and provides space for new features like book café and multi-purpose hall.
In the design process it was important to distinguish new approaches and new materials from the building's original and classic look. This contrast in materials are matching the functions of the house. In the exhibition rooms, the contrast is dimmed to a hint in order for the art to be dominate. In the book cafe and hallway, the contrast is more prominent and powerful.
The famous film director David Lynch, was the artist behind the first exhibition in the new Gl Strand.
The renovation and refurbishment is funded by donations from AP Moller and Chastine McKinney Møller Foundation, Augustinus Fonden, Oticon Fonden, Knud Højgaard Foundation and Montana. |
