FAVRHOLM
VLA presented a solution for the assignment by dividing the Favrholm area into 5 zones: a weekday zone with parking, a zone for the existing buildings, a central zone with the new buildings adapted to the natural surroundings and with grass coved roofs and views of the lake, an independent zone and an activity zone with space for playing and sport. The zones are connected together by a system of paths.
Furthermore, VLA has created cohesion through the use of materials; for example, timber flooring is also used externally to bind the internal and external areas together. Construction; walls and facades are of in-situ cast concrete reminiscent of Japanese architecture and glass facades are with individual wooden panels.
The Client for Favrholm is Novo Nordisk that wants a conference and education centre for its employees at Novo. In the future,
the area will have two distinctive buildings, each with their own identity that collectively create a beautiful setting for the future function of the area as the ‘Novo Culture Centre.’ |
