BREWERY, TUBORG SOUTH
The brewery in Tuborg Harbour was built in 1903 with Henri Glæsel as architect. The building was built in two stages. Since 1926, the Brewery has been regularly modernised by conversion and extension. The last time that beer was brewed in the copper kettles was in 1996. Carlsberg Properties sold the brewery building in 2005 to Oskar Jensen Group A/S which would renovate and convert the preservation-worthy building into office accommodation. The aim of VLA’s renovation of the brew-house itself is to preserve and enhance the existing spacious and natural daylight qualities. At the same time, an up-to-date extension is built at the north gable end to accommodate the ‘heavy’ facilities such as the elevator, stairway, toilets, meeting rooms and mechanical ventilation plant. VLA has provided project design and site inspection services.
