STATOIL HYDRO
NORWAY
Strandhugg is the VLA and HRTB proposal for the new Statoil Hydro offices in Oslo: a building designed to be used by 2500 staff, partners and visitors in the new commercial and residential area on the former Forenblu airfield site.
Statoil Hydro is a large, varied, dynamic corporation. It is continually changing and so this proposal for the groups new Oslo office is based on the concept of the building as a flexible setting for a corporation in a constant state of development.
The site has been designed as a quarter rather than a single building, divided into different zones from public to private. A through axis links the site horizontally, supporting internal communications and logistics.
The exterior design with its division into separate building volumes was chosen to prevent the complex from seeming too large and voluminous. It also gives a picture of Statoil Hydro as a company where several different units interact and draw on one another in order to achieve the best results.
