TUBORG NORTH, CARLSBERG
Tuborg is one of the most exclusive urban development areas along the coast. It is located north of the centre of Copenhagen. This is a former industrial area where Tuborg brewed beer up until 1988.
Carlsberg owns the site and is in charge of developing the entire area. Carlsberg organised a competition in 1999 for the housing units in the northern part of the Tuborg grounds.
The Tuborg North housing units are uniquely situated directly on Øresund. The entire residential structure is laid out so that each of the 200 or so housing units has a view of Øresund.
Tuborg Harbour is part of the grounds and its canals enhance the quality of the housing units by providing the option of a yacht berth ‘right at one’s doorstep’.
Each housing unit has large, well-lit rooms and two or more balconies (15 m²).
The housing units are concrete structures faced with smooth graphite-grey masonry. All window structures and other facings are made of mahogany. The balconies are made primarily of glass and white-painted steel.
