BOLIGSLANGEN
VLA wanted to present a proposal that is borne by a social vision for a way of town living. A vision of a living form that gives opportunities for the creation of neighbourliness and sense of belonging that is normally not offered in a housing development.
Freedom to mix apartment types offers a totally different composition than that found within a traditional stairway access housing building; with the possibility for individual housing units up within the development to form their own small communities across storey boundaries. Where natural, one can place smaller communal areas in the form of a communal house/space, roof gardens, recreation terraces, cultivation and recreational gardens, play areas etc. We find it decisive that a housing development of this size and height does not create distance between that that happens down on the ground and that that takes place up in the housing space. Therefore, it is desirable that some of the functions that are normally located below, are moved up with the housing.
These choice options can be applied to communal housing developments that, ideally envisaged, can accommodate a number of the same possibilities. As a consequence of this, a multitude of individually characteristic housing layouts within the communal housing development sector can be created in the coming years. |
