The new care centre will complete the housing structure of the area and signify a universally welcoming, non-institutional building.

The centre will appear to be a friendly face to the world, providing an open meeting-place for local elderly people, care centre residents and visitors.

The care centre, housing for the elderly and the Housing Association will be arranged as a transparent structure in an uncomplicated garden plan proving a wealth of experiences.

The buildings will present a simple inner logic to provide visitors, residents and staff with an easy understanding of the spatial contexts.

The homes and public areas will be on a human scale and allow for individual expression.

The centre and the homes will face the four points of the compass, and there will be the best possible sheltered outdoor public spaces.
