SYMFONIEN CARE CENTER AND SENIOR HOUSING, NÆSTVED

VLA won a competition for the turnkey contract for a new care center and exterior areas in Næstved. The building will be executed as a turnkey contract including all design services, construction management and site inspection.

The center and the living quarters are arranged in three curved building volumes laid out on slightly sloping terrain. This arrangement creates an open and spacious feeling in harmony with the future garden.

It was important to remove the ‘institutional’ character of the interaction between the buildings and the landscape and draw attention instead to the lively building structure with its spatial qualities both indoor and out.

The dynamic building form also provides the individual units different views and lighting conditions as well as creating healing, intimate outdoor areas. The center is a single story and the living quarters are distributed over to stories.
