HISTORY

VLA was founded in 1922 by the architect Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894 – 1984).

As one of the best representatives of Scandinavian modernism, Vilhelm Lauritzen’s architecture remains an inspiration to VLA today - one of the reasons why the company still bears his name.

Vilhelm Lauritzen’s refined utilisation of materials and details, the elegant and intimate sequence of space, the collaboration with the best engineers and the curiosity in relation to function and form are some of the timeless virtues VLA tries to transform into the tasks, just with modern-day dimensions and means.

Three of Vilhelm Lauritzen’s main works are listed today: Radiohuset on Rosenørns Allé. Folkets hus (the peoples’ house) on Enghavevej as well as the airport terminal from 1939, which was moved to a location in Maglebylille at Copenhagen Airport in Kastrup in 1999.
